In May 2006 Anderson Oaks Vineyard was proud to announce the release if it's first wine. This 2004 Pinot Noir was just a dream when we started 5 years earlier. The Anderson Oaks Vineyard is located in the low rolling hills of Penngrove, California; an area in the Sonoma Coast Appellation of Sonoma County. After completing climate and soil studies, Pinot Noir Clones 115 & 667 on 101-14 root stock were selected for our vineyard. |
In early 2001 the vines were ordered and the land prepared for Brooks Vineyard Management to install the trellising and plant the vines. As each growing season past we gained more experience and met many knowledgeable people in the wine industry. These new friends helped guide the process toward '2004' when we would have a viable crop. As the 2004 crop was ripening we met Hoot & Linda Smith, owners of Kastania Winery in Petaluma, Ca. The choice was made have Kastania crush and process the crop. Winemaker, Leslie Sisneros, would guide the creation of the best wine that our grapes would allow. French Oak Barrel purchase, bottle selection, label design and Government Certification were all subjects new to us. Our Winemakers and the Kastania Team were there when help was needed. After harvest and crush, our first crop was processed and barrel aged for one year. Bottling, labeling and packaging took place in August 2005. Once bottled, Pinot Noir needs about six months to settle down. When the bottle shock period was complete the 2004 Anderson Oaks Pinot Noir was released for all to enjoy. Our first year production is 116 cases. That number will grow with time. This process has been repeated, with improvements, each year. We have found that ageing our wine for one year in French Oak and, at least, one year in the bottle improved the wine. Each year's crop is released for distribution about 2 years after harvest. Our wine is sold at several fine restaurants and shops as well as directly thru our website or by phone These fine Pinot Noir wines are the fruit of our labor, and the labor of many talented professionals who worked with us. We thrust that you will enjoy our Pinot as much as we have enjoyed the people and the process involved in its creation.
